Kareena Kapoor might be a super glamorous Bollywood actress with her hands full with top Bollywood films, but she still remains her mumma’s little girl. Speaking about the strong bond that she shares with mother Babita, Kareena said that her mother is Lady Singham. According to a leading website, Kareena opened her heart about what her mother means to her when she said, "My mother is my Lady Singham. I can't even explain what my mother means to me. I would worship the ground she walks on. She is my oxygen mask. She has protected her two girls, Karisma and me, with kid gloves from the time we were born till today. Even if I fight or argue with her, she doesn't say anything and will bear it. If someone says or writes anything about Karisma or me, it's like somebody has put a dagger in her heart.”
She added that she sees her mother as the best mother one could have. "Saif always says that the mother and the two daughters are like the Holy Trinity. If he spots something in my expression and sees me not having lunch, he will ask, 'Have you had a fight with your mom?' My mother and I respect each other's decisions and choices, but are also very strong-headed people, so I fight with her quite a lot. For me, she is the best mother any child can have. She is a woman of substance and is an example to so many women. Despite going through so much in her life, she is so positive and the entire Kapoor family respects her for how she has brought up Karisma and me. Even now, when I go for a film party, my mom will ask me if I touched the feet of my seniors. My mother understands respect and responsibility very well. She is very traditional but has also moved with the times," Kareena was quoted as saying.
Kareena Kapoor Khan: I don’t mind Alia Bhatt being a fan!
Kareena calls comparisons to younger actress unfair, says she would rather be compared to Sharmila Tagore, Hema Malini or Karisma Kapoor.
WHY THE COMPARISON
Many people feel that Alia Bhatt is just like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’s Poo (a role made famous by Kareena Kapoor Khan).
WHAT COMPARISON?
Kareena feels the comparisons will stop soon and that “Alia will, in the course of time, find her own path.” She believes that “this is a media-made comparison where they say she’s like me and turn it around.”
IRRITATED?
“Not at all,” says Bebo, but then adds, “I think it’s unfair to compare us. I don’t know why everything has to be compared with me!”
I LIKE ALIA
Says the senior actress, “Alia is stunning and her films are doing well. She’s extremely watchable and that’s why I like her. Whenever I meet her, Alia is always so warm. She’s wonderful and I am honoured that she gives me a lot of respect in her interviews and always speaks well of me. There’s no harm in Alia being a fan and I love that.”
COMPARISONS, WHY NOT
“I’d love being compared to Sharmilaji (Saif’s mother), Hema Malini and my own sister (Karisma Kapoor). They were all legends and though I don’t think anybody can compare them to me, I wouldn’t mind being compared to them because they are such lovely, graceful and stylish people.”
Bollywood's Kapoors bond over Christmas cheer and family brunch
