ROAD TO MISS USA 2023




The road to Miss USA 2023 has started! State pageants began in September 2022 and will continue into August 2023. The competition will likely be held in the fall of 2023 at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada, and Morgan Romano of North Carolina will crown her successor at the end of the event. The winner will go on to represent the United States at the Miss Universe 2023 competition in El Salvador.

There are a couple notable returnees, including Starla Sampaco (1RU 2022, Washington Teen 2014), Taylor Mann (3RU 2022), and Edith Gonzalez (3RU 2020). Jesi Williams comes back again, she's been continuously robbed but I'm a fan and I'm hopeful this is going to be her year. Brittany Kershner, née Georgia, who has competed a lot in various Future states (Iowa, Wisconsin, and Colorado) is making an appearance in Washington, she was previously 1RU for Wisconsin Teen too, but I'm not going to be rooting for any of the married ladies. Samantha Gallia is a face I don't remember seeing, but apparently she's held several very minor titles and is making her way to the big leagues - she's a dentist and gorgeous so I think she could do very well too.

Anyway, I'm personally not really a fan of Starla's. I think she's too short and isn't really that exciting to me. I think she could very likely win, she's a reporter so she's naturally a good speaker, as well as the returning 1RU and a former Miss WA Teen USA contestant, but I'd really prefer Taylor or Jesi. Samantha would be really fun to see win, too

This is a surprisingly strong group from Maine. Notable contestants include Mara Carpenter (Miss Maine Teen USA 2019), Natalie Swift (4RU 2021), Juliana Morehouse (3RU 2022, multiple-time North Carolina and South Carolina semifinalist), and Lauren Headley (1RU 2022). I really like Mara, she's gorgeous and a former Teen state titleholder, but Elizabeth Robbins gets the edge for me. She works in STEM which I love to see - even as the organization puts less of a focus on career, I still always will since I do love beauty & brains, and she's just stunning.

Hoping they give the show the budget it deserves, DON'T DO A DELAYED TELECAST FOR THE WEST COAST (I don't even remember if NBC used to do that like Fox did), and if we're really lucky, do some cross promo on the network like a Miss USA edition of The Weakest Link or something

God willing. Miss Conduct needs to go and go fast. I won't be watching any paid events til she's gone, except for probably Louisiana because I can't resist supporting Josie. But I'll still be running the thread and keeping an eye on everything, I just can't financially support this organization until they get rid of her.

Just re-checked the WA contestants and Madison Damour[/b] has been added to the list! She was 2RU last year, but she appears to have a private IG so I can't link her

So apparently they pushed back Utah to July 8. One of the newsletters said that the deadline for the 2024 cycle was June 4, but several states are already scheduled after that

What is their deal? Maybe it has something to do with Miss USA ownership being up in the air, but we have pageants as late as Texas on July 15 - later than their 2022 pageant. So much for them easing the Miss USA schedule back to normal

GEORGIA CONTESTANTS ARE UP!!!

"Georgia's On My Mind" a lot these past few days lol, so it's only appropriate that we get to look at their contestants of the year! This is the first powerhouse batch of the year, and the competition is really strong in Georgia this year and I can see about two dozen contestants who I think might win. However, I think the ones most to watch out for are the most notable contestants, Vanessa Van Dyke (1RU 2022), Britain Bennett (4RU 2022, 3RU OH USA 2019), and Karson Pennington (Miss Georgia MAO 2021).

Robin Burnett, Chelsea Davis, Aja Murray, and Rachel Russaw also made the Top 15 in Georgia last year. Some other contestants I'll have my eye on are Blake Ivory who is impossibly stunning and overflowing with star quality but largely unproven in pageantry and Natalie Bode who made the Top 15 in NC one and I remember liking her.

Here are my thoughts about the upcoming Miss Washington USA 2023 pageant:

Mediocre batch... I only love my Madison Damour and her French bulldogs (so glad she's back again!!! Otherwise it would have been a horrible batch).

I also like Taylor Mann and Jesi Williams but they're just okay. I don't think they would place if Mazzy couldn't so I really hope Madison wins this.

By the way, I don't understand why a state as populous as Washington doesn't attract more women, and especially not more pretty women, it's really very disappointing.

It's the culture + the money too. Pageant entry fees are expensive in the states, and girls will have to dish out hundreds/thousands of dollars to participate after the costs for hair/makeup/gowns are factored in. And even if they win, they barely get any of a career boost to justify spending hundreds/thousands of dollars per attempt.

Super dedicated pageant girls will do this so this is why you'll see the same girls year after year, but you'll rarely see the fresh "I'll just try this once and see what the experience is about!" girls you see in Miss France because of it.
