FASHION REVIEW
The recently concluded Nuestra Bellaza Mexico 2009 brought a lot of surprise both in pageant sense and in fashion. Since I am not that qualified to actually make a comment regarding its pageant side, I will rather comment on the fashion which is depicted from the pageant. As we all now, a couple of the biggest surprises that night were the non placement of Giovanna and a wasted beauty of Sandra.
Pageant issues aside, let me start my Fashion Review for this year’s Nuestra Bellaz Mexico.
Pyramids in Central America
This year’s motif was clearly the Mayan Pyramids. The golden colored stage was well suited for the rich culture of the Maya Civilization. In my opinion, the NBM Org should have had took advantage of the richness and flexibility of the color gold. The stage was rather dull both in close and far view. It could have been nicer if they could have made it more glittery and shimmery. The big screen was a nice touch though. It added color and dimension on the stage. It would be nicer if they had put torches – these could help make the stage more lively and transcends the feeling of bring back the audience from the Mayan times.
Women Warriors
They were dressed in Mayan Warriors. The feathers on their head and accessories on their hands and legs were inspired from the Mayan Warriors. I have nothing much to say regarding the accessories because it was really superb. They were simple and wearable. The feathers on their head remind me of a woman having a cocktail party in the Safari. I love it! On the other hand, I was a little bit disappointed with the color of their swimsuits. At afar, they looked naked women. It would be nicer if color of the swimsuit was more on the darker and deeper gold. With the darker colored swimsuit, it could help make the candidates’ curves more visible.
Style Her Perfect: Hair & Make-up
It was nice to see the spiciness Mexican women exude with their hair let loose and make-up with smoky eyes. I have to give it to them for they have one of the most gorgeous set of eyes and one of the most luscious locks in the world. It would have been nicer if at least a couple of them would have put their hair up or into a bun. I love Mexican beauties and I hope that someday they would put their hair into a clean bun to make their faces more visible, their well proportional cheek bones, and their long gorgeous necks.
Top 5 Best Hair & Make-up
1. Jimena Navarrete Rosete : Gudalajara, Jalisco
2. Anabel Solis Sosa : Merida Yucatan
3. Sandra Luz Vargas Plazola : Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco
4. Gabriela Quintero Martinez : Los Mochis, Sinola
5. Daniela Munoz Grijalva : Chihuahua, Chihuahua
Style Her Perfect: Accessories & Gowns
David Salomon and Gerardo Rebollo were the designers of the gowns and accessories of the Nuestra Bellaz Mexico 2009. I was in awe with the accessories and how they were made – perfect. The accessories consisting of colorful gemstones, Swarovski stones, and diamonds were perfect for the event. I was a little bit disappointed with the gowns though. All gowns were pastel colors with minimal details. I saw David Salomon’s 2009 spring collection and this was far better than the gowns presented that night.
Top 5 Best Gown

Pageant Proper
NBM Universe: Jimena Navarrete Rosete : Gudalajara, Jalisco
It is not a surprise to see Jimena winning this pageant. First, she has the most solid catwalk among the candidates. She also has the most polished presentation with her hair to her make-up to her evening gown. Wrapping up her experiences throughout the pageant is the crown of NBM Universe. Superb!
NBM World: Anabel Solis Sosa : Merida Yucatan
Anonther solid contender for the crown, Anabel caught the hearts of the judges by her wits and overall presentation. She also had a solid overall presentation which helped her a lot. However, a red hair in a red gown for me is quite risky. Good thing she carried her whole presentation well which made her grab the NBM World crown.
Suplente: Veronica Llamas Sanches : Nochistian, Zacatecas
Great choice of gown plus great cat walk, brought her to the top 5 spot. She looked radiant in yellow. And she looked really natural with her hair tied up and with make-up that is not overpowering her face.
1st Runner-up: Gabriela Quintero Martinez : Los Mochis, Sinola
Her beauty, in my opinion, is very European. Her stance is queenly. I love her gown which is simple and elegant. Perfect make-up too!
2nd Runner-up: Sandra Luz Vargas Plazola : Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco
It seems that she trembled on the final question placing her in this spot. Nonetheless, I would love to see her at least as a Suplente. Her gown was the most beautiful, in my opinion, among the 10 finalists. She wore her hair perfectly and her make-up was gorgeous. The only thing I can do know is to ask: “What happened?”
Ceazar’s Order of Best Presentation (Other Finalists)
6. Daniela Munoz Grijalva : Chihuahua, Chihuahua
Daniela is my Miss Little Mexico. Although her make-up and hair were one of the best that evening, her gown pulled her chances a little lower.
7. Jacqueline Tostado Madrid: Distro Federal
I find her aura a little bit of a Miss India. I don’t like Jacqueline’s gown. She won me over with her hair and make-up.
8. Lorena Camargo Miranda : Cd. Obregon Sonora
A cute little girl with wrong choice of hair, Lorena should have at least made her hair sexier. She should’ve let it loose like others or put it in a bun to be different. I love her gown! Her gown is 6th for me.
9. Abril Rodriguez Fernandez : Saltillo, Coahuila
I am not a big fan of her style. Her hair is borderline messy, borderline not done. I don’t like the color of her gown. It doesn’t match her skin and her hair. Her make-up was too “flat”. Nice accessories though.
10. Claudia Espinosa Gomez : Catazaja Chiapas
The biggest disappointment among the 10 finalist, she should’ve at least made herself more presentable. I don’t like Claudia’s hair and gown. In my opinion, a spot is wasted with this girl.
