As a dedication to the exotic and beautiful women from the region of Asia, we prepared this video showcasing the best performances at Miss Universe (Miss Universe), at the rhythm of BLANK PINK. Over the last 3 decades, countries like Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand have stepped up in their preparation of candidates making Asia the region to watch out by fans, pageant watchers, pageant experts, and the organization.

Since Miss Universe began in 1952 contestants from Asia have won 14 Miss Universe crowns, 2 of those under the new ownership and brand of the pageant: IMG. In fact, one anecdote is worth mentioning that shows the greatness of the contenders from Asia is the top 5 in Miss Universe 1988, when 4 contestants out of the top 5 finalists were from the region: Thailand, Korea, Japan and Hong Kong. Whether it is their exoticism, poise or elegance, beauty queens from Asia have enchanted us with their jaw dropping performance.
Over the 90s, India contestants gave their all to place among the finalists, getting closer and closer to the title until the year India made history winning its first crown with Sushmita Sen, in 1994. During that decade, India was thought of as the new power of beauty in Asia.
Over the 2000s, Japan performances outperformed all other Asian countries. Under Ines Ligron, the director took the preparation of the representative of that country to a higher level. Who could forget Miyako Miyazaki’s evening gown and catwalk, “the most daring evening gown performance of all times in pageantry.” Japan got a step close to the crown with Kurara Chibana in 2006, and then in 2007 Riyo Mori snatched the last win for the land of the rising sun.
Korea almost won its first crown in 1988. The last time the country placed among the top 5 was in 2007 with the stunner Honey Lee. Despite her placement at the final of Miss Universe 2007, pageant watchers think of Honey as one of most beautiful faces from Asia in Miss Universe. In fact, “she was chosen the hottest Korean Woman of all time by playboy.”
Thailand has won the crown 2 times. Over the last 5 years, the country is consistently placing among the semi finalists and emerging as one of the strongest countries in Asia. The national organization is surely capitalizing on the diverse beauty of Thai queens and sending to Miss Universe well-prepared representatives who fit like a glove with what IMG looks for in a universal queen. As a matter of fact, prior to the final of Miss Universe 2016, many pageant wachters thought of Chalita Suansane as the third crown for the Kingdom of Thailand. Definitely, “she might not have won the crown but won the hearts of the international audience with her beauty, poise, charm, and grace.”
Vietnam is considered a latecomer to pageants. It made its debut at Miss Universe in 2004, with the exotic and beautiful representative: Hoang Ngoc. Not until 2008, the country placed among the semifinalists for the first time. Over the last 2 years, Vietnam were included in the pageant watchers’ list of favorites. Who could forget the memorable performance of H'Hen Niê? Whether it was her unique short hair style, naturally-tanned skin, or striking pageant walk, it would be difficult to forget H'Hen Niê’ and her journey throughout Miss Universe 2018. It would certainly live in the memory of fans across the globe for many, many years.
Philippines has won 4 crowns and placed uninterrupted among the semi finalists over the last 10 editions of the pageant. Considered the land where pageant contestants take pageant preparation seriously, Philippines contestants have brought a unique type of style to the universal competition; performances like Venus Raj, Janine Tugonon or Arida are truly unforgettable. There is no better way to end this acknowledgment than naming our most memorable Asian beauty of all, Catriona Gray. The world was too little of achievement for the beauty queen with the aura of a universal queen. We believe that not winning Miss World was just an opportunity to achieve her full potential and become an unstoppable contender, and thus the 4 four crown for Philippines. From the moment she arrived into the airport in Bangkok to her personalized lava walk, Catriona had a competitive edge over the rest of the contestants, elevating the standards for the future beauties from the Phillipines and contenders around the world.
