In 1996, Carousel Productions formulated the Pre-Judging Criteria at Miss Asia Pacific Quest (and early years of Miss Earth) in determine who will make the first cut:
Beauty of Face: 40%
Beauty of Figure: 35%
Poise, personality & Intelligence (+Environmental Awareness at Miss Earth): 25%
In 2003, Carousel (and ABS-CBN) added the attitude scores after the controversial coronation walkout of Miss Earth 2002 that led to the dethronement of the original winner. Here is the current criteria:
Beauty of Face: 35%
Beauty of Figure/Fitness and Form: 20%
Poise: 10%
Intelligence & Environmental Awareness: 30%
Attitude (& Personality): 5%
Normally the pre-judging was held behind closed doors and only one whole day to finish it, but since 2017, Carousel opened it doors to the netizens for the transparency on how they chose the semifinalists thru a three day pre-judging rounds viewed on livestream. This time they invited three sets of experts that will evaluate each delegates and allowed the pageant bloggers and netizens to see the judging process.
