Confirmed: Miss USA Salary

Postby sephie » Sat May 02, 2020 3:23 pm

Im watching Dani Walkers Vlog (Former Miss Montana USA contestant) and she mentioned how much Miss USA gets in a year

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6GBxXfgWhg (18:54)

Miss America gets $50,000 scholarship vs Miss USA earns $75,000 (P3.1M) plus sponsor packages
I think this is a big amount and I'm wondering why they don't highlight it. But I think for a well-established contest, you don't announce the prize amount anymore cos the title is more important

This made me think how much Miss Universe earns in year. Im assuming its around $100,000 to $150,000 per year

I actually believe is not that much higher than MUSA, I remember there were a lot of running rumors that many Miss USAs didn't mind not winning Miss Universe because their prize packages were basically the same and sometimes better than Miss Universe

I see. That's really not quite a lot especially here in NYC where your $20 is just only a little bit over the cost of a really decent value meal from McDonald's or Burger King, or coffee and a sandwich from Starbucks or Pret-a-Manger. We also need to take into consideration that state, federal and city taxes will be deducted from the winner's paychecks regardless of their citizenship, hence the net income becomes less.

I remembered that Miss America not only won US$50,000 scholarship but also reported a 6 figure salary for her year of service. Just like Miss America 2013 when her reign was just 9 months but her salary was given a full year.

$100k-$150k income and free rent in NYC is actually quite decent! most employer in NYC are in hardship cause of the rent ranging to $2k up!

I agree plus MUO pays for all living cost. For example, as Zozi mentioned, if they need tissue paper, they just send a message to the organisation and they will get it. In return, the winner has to be commercial viable for the organisation. They should at least rake in income for them in order for the pageant to be sustainable

I understand this but if you are really after the title, I think to be Miss Universe is still prestigious

Even $50k/year tbh would be decent considering their living expenses are taken care of and they have so many opportunities to make more money.

I read on that "Exposing Miss World" page that the winner gets £1 Million. Now that I don't believe, a lot of CEO's don't even get that much for a year.

Oh OF COURSE, I agree. Miss Universe Puerto Rico under Denise has packages of hundreds of thousands of dollars (Madison's package was reported to be close to 400K) but I can assure you If you ask Kiara or Madison theyd be Miss Universes in a heartbeat.

But maybe not all Miss USAs feel the same way

My guess is that IMG doesn't know how to manage money and they don't know how to market their queens enough to make the necessary money, they also just spend millions on 3 overpriced crowns.

Miss universe Org dissent pay for the crown. not even a dime. the crown is sponsored by mouward jewellers. and mousward jewellers pay miss universe organisation to use their crown because with that crown they get publicity all wound the world. Americans know how to commercialise every thing.

the classic miss universe crown wasn't that expensive. it was made of Rhine stone. at the max it wd be made of gold/ silver/ platinum.

miki motto had a 10 year contract with MUO, and the miki motto crown was suppose to be unveiled at the 50 th miss universe contest to crown miss universe 2001 Dennis quinones. it took some time to make it, as such the mikimotto crown was used at miss universe 2001. mikimoto contract ended in 2008.

the one time special crown by Vietnam was a gift to miss universe. I guess Diana Mendoza owns the crown as a part of her prize package.

now, then came DIAMOND NEXUS LABS. They were sponsor for 5 years from 2009 to 2013.

Next came: DIC. they had a 10 year contract. but they failed to pay the sponsor fee/ money to miss universe organisation. there was a legal battle between MUO & DIC after DIC didn't make payment and failed to live upto its commitment. that why you saw the return on miki Moto in 2017 and 2018 editions of miss universe as a stop gap arrangement.

MUO, I guess wasn't making any money with the Jewllery sponsor, that why they again changed the crown to make money.

I personally believe that the MISS UNIVERSE / WORLD crown should be above commercial value. it is a symbol of the fund-raising and the brand value of the pageant. changing it every year is like changing the logo of the organisation..

now in the salary.. miss universe contestants have been making no less than 250,000 as cash and prize since a long time till Dennis quinines won miss universe in 2001.
miss universe apart from a rent free accommodation + 10,000 dollars monthly salary+ all expense paid lifestyle for one year + other sponsor and prizes..

but since 2006, miss universe had stopped disclosing the prizes for winner. I remember riyo more saying that she didn't have any money left after her reign. she was practically broke.
thats sad!

I later read somewhere in 2014-17 that miss universe was given 3000- 4000 dollars as monthly salary + rent free accommodation+ expenses + prizes (which I think are very substandard) the reason for such low salary was that they would earn a lot with the title after the complete the year and blah blah! so guys lets get some real infos from the winners themselves! I personally see every miss universe very sad and disappointed after winning the tittle bcz its not at all as glorious as a job as is used to be before. there are hardly paid well, plus there is no work either.. plus very little travel!

catriona may say " its about the experience and not the stamps on her passport" but the fact is, even she knows that there is only recognition in Philippines and Indonesia Thailand and South America.. n she hardly travelled! I hate to see miss universe winners giving make up tutorials on Instagram.. its better they use the power to tell girls to appreciate their natural looks rather than use artificial makeup to hide their true beauty! harsh world but true!!
