2019 PAGEANT PERFORMANCES OF THE PHILIPPINES RECAP

Postby mrgary » Fri Dec 20, 2019 11:45 pm

It seems that 2019 is not really an outstanding year for the Philippines as far as winning crowns from the top major pageants are concerned. Below are the Philippine representatives this year and their respective international pageant placements:

(Please note that I did not include Reina Hispanoamericana, Miss Eco International and Miss Multinational as these two pageants will be held in the first quarter of 2020.)

Image
Gazini Ganados, Top 20, Miss Universe

Image
Michelle Dee, Top 12, Miss World

Image
Patch Magtanong, Top 8, Miss International

Image
Janelle Tee, Top 20, Miss Earth

Image
Resham Saeed, Top 25, Miss Supranational

Image
Emma Tiglao, Top 20, Miss Intercontinental

Image
Leren Mae Bautista, 2nd Runner-up, Miss Globe

Image
Klyza Castro, Top 25, Miss Asia Pacific International

Image
April May Short, Top 12 and Scholarship Grantee, Top Model Of The World

Image
Cyrille Payumo, Miss Tourism International 2019/20

Image
Samantha Lo, "clapper", Miss Gwand International

Have our candidates become too predictable in the international arena? What went wrong that 2019 became a dismal performance for the Philippines in pageantry? Did we field the right winners to the wrong pageants, or did we crown the wrong winners to begin with? What areas do we need to improve as we go back to the drawing board? Please answer in Tagalog or "coded lingo" for suggestions to improve. You may use English if commenting only on our candidates' performances. Thank you.

Mas importante nag enjoy ung mga dilag in the experience of a lifetime at inilahad ung bandila ng Pinas sa maayos na pamamaraan. There's always a next time. We were there, done that! As long as we are entertained, it should be fine. The competition worked to achieve what we have done, and stepped up to meet the challenge. Some did and we should be elated. Lessons are learned the hard way I'm positive our organizers took notice plugging the holes and shall heed in the interim.

:hx

I love these 2019 batch but so many girls went to wrong pageants panahon pa ng naka diaper pa ako.. Chos! its either a hit or a miss.

And or Patch/Samantha as MUTop3?

Most of these girls were looking machinated rather than natural, not to mention the fact that PH's competitions are really leveling up.

Girls sent to the wrong pageant.

Patch and Gazini should've switched places, for example.
Big FOUR pageants: Miss Universe, MW, MI and ME
All other pageants are MINOR pageants.

Raw pa kasi mga pinadala natin.

Gazini (Top 20) - nagstutter sya tsaka di strong ending ng speech. Eh speech na pinakaimportante this 2019. Kelangan perfect.
Michelle (Top 12) - Medyo mahinhin nung pagsagot. Pero pwede ma sa Miss Universe. Very raw pa sya.
Patch (Top 8) - medyo nagmamadali nung swimsuit. Yung message nya against women abuse parang medyo political kasi diba yung mga japanese ayaw panagutan yung mga victims na comfort women. Di pa inayos nung translator yung pag translate.
Janelle (Top 20) - panooring nyo yung gown performance. Maliligwak ka talaga pag ganun.
Resham (Top 25; 14th place) - di ngumingiti. Over fierce.
Masyado naging trying hard tingnan.

Walang
Ala Pia, Kylie, Ahtisa o kahit Karen Ibasco.

Sana next year magkaroon ulit tayo ng winning performance

For 2020, BPCI should hold the pageant only for Bb. Pilipinas International. Michelle Dee should apply.

So that their beauty and preparation for this year are not completely wasted, BPCI should APPOINT Gazini Ganados to Intercontinental (she doesn’t have to open her mouth, so her poor communication skills do not have to be showcased until she reaches the end; she has many months to memorize her expected answer :%)) ) and Emma Tiglao to Supranational.

Bea Patricia Magtanong should consider MUP, though she’ll be too beautiful for Miss Universe, which has eliminated being beautiful as a requirement for the crown. She should also consider carpetbagging for either Indonesia or Thailand — the MUO will like that and might give her a 1RU placement. :=p

I agree with many here, primary reason is that BPCI sent the wrong girls to the wrong pageant. Possible underlying reason is that the judges that night were not very much aware of the specific criteria each pageant looks for.

Miss Universe should be Patch. Miss Universe looks for an empowered, smart woman who can talk (not memorize);
MI should be Gazini. MI usually looks for a timid, beautiful woman;
MS should be Emma. MS looks for a performer with good ramp and dance skills;

Sam Bernardo I think is the best candidate for MGI, who looks for pageant patty girls with over-the-top ramp skills and ave face value;
I think choosing Leren for MG was the only sensible result. I don’t know specifically what MG looks for though.
MIntercon can then be anyone among Resham, Sam Lo and Aya.

Not saying they would win all their respective pageants, but I believe they would have given better results

As a person looking from the outside I think

1) You guys are being too hard on yourselves, you had a decent year. Problem is that the world is used to Philippines bringing a specific level, but you guys still placed in most pageants and in fairly good placements with good performances

2) I do think you guys send several girls to the wrong pageant and didn't choose some that you should have. To me Gazini, as well as Arnold, needed a year or two because they were not ready.

We just have a bunch of ingrates and brats here. For them not winning a crown is already dark era even though we placed in majority of the pageants.

You are just seeing ungrateful brats. Don’t mind these newbies
