I agree with that but it might happen soon if Miss Earth will decrease the number again at next year's 20th anniversary pageant. (From 87 in 2018 to 85 in 2019)
Lots of countries are really intended to compete at Miss International but due to incomplete payment of entry fee or being late to apply cost some of the countries to sit out for 2019 edition.

versus
Miss International: 83 contestants which it is the highest turnout in the 59 year history of the pageant.
It seemed that MI is now catching up against Miss Earth in terms of number of contestants since MIO increased the quota to 86 according to XAMURAI. If this trend will continue next year that MI will continue to maintain the maximum of 86 contestant quota and Miss Earth will drop again then Miss International will beat Miss Earth after 19 years. Will it happen at the 60th anniversary of Miss International (coincide with 2020 Tokyo Olympics) and 20th anniversary of Miss Earth?

As it was originated, until ‘’ minor pageants ‘’ and self- proclaimed ‘’ Big 5 ‘’ came along ....

I think it’s better for miss earth to look ahead and focus on its own agenda .. that in itself should attract worthy contestants and not just focusing on numbers

Originally 3 until Miss Earth came along and the reputable media institutions formally call them as the legit "Big-4". Nothing less, nothing more.
