I was blessed to be invited by Mr. Isidro de Brito at the final gala of Miss Portuguesa 2019. It was a very cozy pageant, held outdoors, and I must say that Portugal is very underrated.
Ines had been the runaway winner since the beauty camp started. She was runner-up in 2015 and just came back to compete again after four years of focusing in law school. She is very serious to give Portugal a much needed placement at Miss World, which will be held in London. The two runners-up up were also outstanding. Cristiana is still young at 18 and vows to come back more prepared. The 2nd Runner-up, Beatrize, whom I was eyeing for Miss International, also has a lot of potentials. At 17, she cannot compete in MI yet, although she said that she was very contended with her placement.
Sylvie, who is going to Miss Universe, is the one that they should invest on. Height, beauty and personality - she has all of them! Her problem is her stage presence and catwalk. She has to train hard because at Miss Universe, she will be eaten alive by the P-group.
Ana Rita, who took over the Miss Portuguesa 2018 title after the reigning queen (name I always forgot) was sacked due to breach of contract, was assigned the Miss International Portugal 2019 title. The reason was because of the fact that as Miss Portuguesa, she fulfilled her duties very well and also, she NEEDED to compete in a major pageant. Miss International is her destination!
Carolina, who is going to Miss Supranational, is a total performer! Great dancer and has a wonderful stage presence. I did not really notice her at the beginning, but on stage, she was a kickass!
I think, with this development, and the exposure that Portugal got worldwide because of Missosology, I think that the pageant world will start noticing Portugal. They are so underrated and I sincerely hope that this will bring a lot of opportunities for them, and a much needed recognition.
