A dream for Miss Earth 2020- a suggestion thread

I know a similar thread has been posted already here. But i just can't stop believing that this might happen soon for the 20th Anniversary of the Pageant. Below are my wishlists.

1. Venue
The Philippines is a great host country. No doubt! Bit if Carousel is planning to have it in the Philippines, i hope Okada will not be the venue due to the limitations of the audience who can attend the coronation night. I once read here from MissPluto that carousel might have it outside the Philippines. Let us see, I hope Thailand will host it finally.

2. Judges

I hope Carousel will consider inviting all the past queens in the event and let them sit as a judge..if that is impossible, i hope these queens can sit in the panel.. Alexandra Braun, Nicole Farria, Wimfred Omwake, Phoung Khan. Tereza Fasjkova

3. Crown.

I hope a new crown will be used for this edition

What's your wishlist earthlings?

I hope ME 2020 will be outside of the Philippines. If this happens, every 4 years is a new host country.

I like your suggestion about queens as judges and the new crown. I was thinking to include Alyz but then Alyz is an ND.

I think Katherine Espin can't sit as a judge since she is also a ND.

Former Miss Earth winners along with Madam Lorraine would be an epic for the grand coronation night. I hope they have the budget to invite some of the former Miss Earth winners for the 2020 grand coronation night.

List of Potential Former Miss Earth winner can be one of the judges at Miss Earth 2020:
Catharina Svensson
Winfred Omwakwe
Dania Prince
Priscilla Meirelles
Alexandra Braun
Hil Hernandez
Jessica Trisko (?)
Karla Henry
Larissa Ramos
Nicole Faria
Olga Alava
Tereza Fajksova
Jamie Herrell
Angelia Ong
Karen Ibasco
Phuong Khanh Nguyen

Business-wise, I don't think it is profitable for Carousel to bring the venue of Miss Earth to other countries. As what the late Joji Felix Velarde, former matriarch of Carousel Productions, Inc., had once said before she died in 2009, "Let Miss Earth stay in the Philippines to empower and strengthen the brand, the people and the country", I also think that bringing the pageant to other countries will not bring any practicality in almost all aspects as far as the organisation is concerned. For one thing, we have countless public and private organisations in the Philippines that are more than happy and willing to sponsor the pre-pageant activities. This alone already establishes brand security and stability of the pageant. The Filipino people and school children are also ecstatic to give their undying support for the pageant especially to the candidates whom they all treat like royalty. Bringing the pageant elsewhere from the confines of the Philippines will not guarantee that the pre-pageant activities of Miss Earth which we normally see and expect each year will also yield the same outstanding results. These exceptional national directors and their candidates join the pageant because aside from their strong advocacies, they also want to immerse in the Filipino culture and to experience the "It's More Fun In The Philippines" programme that our tourism sector promises to provide for them. Besides, tourism is one of the most reliable industries that the Philippines heavily rely on to improve its thriving economy. It creates a domino effect by helping our small businesses and business owners, private investors and livelihood programme initiators from the business industry as well as the establishments and companies behind our hospitality and service industries. More than these, the friendliness and charm of the Filipino people cannot be found elsewhere in the world which makes the entire experiences of the Miss Earth candidates extra special and unique.

If I were to make a suggestion, then I would like the programme to be brought back to the Mall of Asia arena next year with the theme, "Jewels Of The Earth", where candidates showcase pearls, gems and precious stones or metals. I think it is an appropriate theme because jewels can be found underneath the water or buried under the earth. They can also be harnessed through the aid of air and fire. Since the Philippines is "The Pearl Of The Orient", I would like the stage to have a huge iridescent pearl as the main focal point of the stage with ornaments of "gold" and other "shiny materials" surrounding the "huge pearl". The candidates will wear costumes that depict the theme and because it will be the pageant's 20th year, the opening number has to be one spectacular festival!

Image

I would like James Deakin to remain as host and Cathy Untalan as annotator of the pageant.

Image
Image
Image

On the other hand, I wish that Carousel will find highly competent interpreters for the pageant this time around. Miss Earth has a very catchy song but the voice and timbre of the original singer behind the song sounds off-key and seems like she did it at a karaoke bar. It would be nice if Carousel could hire a professional singer to sing and re-record the original song of the pageant which will be played and danced to as the opening number of the pageant. After all, it is the Miss Earth's anthem.

Kudos to Ricky Abad for a well-conceptualized swimwear design for the pageant. Keep up the good work!

In regard to the judges, I wish Carousel would entertain the idea of having former winners judge the pageant and not just an all-Filipino panel of judges select the winner.

Image Image Image

The most expensive Ramona Haar bejeweled crown does not have to be changed completely.

Image

I think what it needs is just an adjustment because the height of the crown is quite tall, however, the elements and prestige of the pageant are present. I think that reducing the height of the present crown will help its proportion and distinction once it is placed on the head of the winner.

1. KEEP JAMES AS THE HOST!

2. DO A SWIMSUIT SEGMENT ROUND. GIVE THE TOP 20 CANDIDATES MORE TIME TO WALK IN THEIR SWIMWEAR. MAYBE HAVE THEM WALK AROUND LIKE THE MISS UNIVERSE SWIMSUIT SEGMENT STYLE. AN EXTRA 10 MINUTES WILL NOT HURT.

3. DO A LONGER EVENING GOWN SEGMENT.

4. PUT RAMP IN THE MIDDLE.

5. KEEP THE ACTIVITIES, HAVING THE FILIPINOS INVOLVE IS A GREAT THING!

6. DO 5 WINNER PER CONTINENT ON THE NATIONAL COSTUME. GOLD, SILVER, BRONZE, 4TH PLACE (RIBBON OR SASH) & 5TH PLACE(RIBBON OR SASH).

7. DO A NATIONAL DIRECTOR AWARD.

8. DO 6 WINNERS - EARTH, AIR, WATER, FIRE THE 1ST RUNNER UP & SECOND RUNNER UP.

9. *****BEST OF ALL, HAVE THE MISS EARTH LIVE IN THE CAROUSEL MANSION DURING HER REIGN.

In 2010, when Vietnam hosted the pageant it was a great event and the pre-pageant activities were outstanding too..I was in Vietnam that time when the pageant was held there but unfortunately was not able to see the coronation night. News about Miss Earth was all over the newspaper that time. My point here is that, if a country wanted to host Miss Earth then they should have a standard just like miss earth held.in Philippines.

James, we were blest that Vietnam was such an excellent host in 2010 but alas, we weren't when we had it done in Vienna, Austria in 2015 despite the "heaven-on-earth" promise of the Austrian organisation to Carousel at the time of the agreement. My point is, why take a gamble when the very important elements in our own yard have already proven their worth through the years? As a businessman, holding the pageant in other countries is not a sound proposition for me because it doesn't guarantee that the organisation will remain solvent during and after the pageant. At least if there'd be any losses if held in the Philippines, then the losses and liabilities will just be minimal as compared to having the pageant staged elsewhere.

I agree... even miss universe is struggling to find host countries and even when its being held in the USA it’s not as glamorous as yesteryears ... remember the mezzanine prelims for 2017 and the barely 10 days pageant coming up in Atlanta ... so don’t expect too much from miss universe this year ... it’s only when it’s being held in Asia or Philippines rather that we experience glitz and glamour at miss universe... so why move miss earth ?

I would really like James Deakin to continue hosting miss earth longevity like bob barker... but I am worried that his association with miss eco intl may be seen as a conflict of interest eventually by carousel productions given that they don’t want to be linked to the Egyptian copycat version so they might ditch James Deakin next year ... hope not

My simple wishes :)
Better Interpreters.
Swimsuit Competition without the other girls in the background.
Remove sashes during evening gown and swim suit competitions.
For the host, just need to work on timing when calling the next girl, let the current girl walking have her moment before calling the next one :D
Better camera angles for Evening Gown competition.

Over all, I like this year's production. :)

Nice suggestions, my take (i’ll keep it short and simple)

Venue outside the Phils- NO WAY! Why fix something that’s not broken. Carousel has gazillion of sponsors and they earn more when they are here

Change the Crown- Hell NO! That crown may not look expensive but the that is one of the most expensive crowns ever! The stones are so authentic that the crown itself is collapsing. I say just fine tune and adjust it.

Host- YES na YES! But there should he a clause, he shouldn’t host Miss Eco eeew!

Past Queens as host- perfect idea!

Rampa sa swimsuit- malabo, they only have a 2 hour show

Interpreters- OF COURSE! It’s a major issue sa kanila susme

And I thank you

Agree with all these! I think they can keep the format the same but in order to have swimsuit competition without the other girls win the background, I think they will have to play around with how the stage would look like and the camera angles used (like a wider or longer stage and how the camera pans/moves to the girls) so that the audience just sees the girl walking even if in reality, all the girls are in the background (if that makes sense).

- No sash during evening gown and swimsuit competition. They can put it after nila rumampa diba pwede naman yun? Pansin ko kasi sa ibang delegates anlaki masyado ng sash nalalaglag at nakakawala ng poise
- Open to have a venue outside the Philippines. Challenge is that they need to have many sponsors and guidance and coordination with the government of the country where it will take place
- Competent interpreter
- Have a proper blocking on swimsuit and evening gown competition. Yung di nasa likod yung mga girls habang rumarampa yung pasok sa semi. Pwede silang i group to two left and right tapos sa gitna rarampa yung girl

My suggestions

1. Make the Medal Race overall winner part of the top 20.

2. Continue the Miss Earth Flora show. Maybe change the name to WOMEN of the EARTH show? It will be great to see all the delegates in 1 stage before the finals. Each group will compete in different mini competitions.
Air for talent, Water for SS and Fire for EG. Then parts of the proceeds of the show will be donated to an NGO that is focused on environmental protection.

1. I THINK, Miss Earth should stay in the PHL and Carousel Productions is doing a great job in their turf.
2. Keep James Deakin as an official host and Cathy Untalan as voice over
3. Have at leat a victory walk for the Miss Earth winner...For some unusual reason this has not been done...
4. The mini competitions of every group should be completed in that host local city. Have the Talent, Resorts Wear, Swimsuit, and Evening Gown events as well as votation for Congeniality award be completed in that one or 2 days so there is cohesion...

HOPE THE PAGEANT WILL BE HELD OUTSIDE THE PHILIPPINES. AND FOR SUCCEEDING YEARS AS WELL.

HOPE THE TOP 20 WILL CONTINUE. AND HOPE THAT THE FORMAT WILL BE A 20-15-10-5

HOPE THEY WILL INTRODUCE A FIRST RUNNER UP, FOR IF ELEMENTAL COURT AIR, WATER OR FIRE CANNOT FULLFILL THEIR DUTIES OR TOOK OVER THE ROLE OF MISS EARTH, THE FIRST RUNNER UP WILL TAKE HER PLACE AND BE PART OF THE ELEMENTAL COURT.

My suggestions:

Host country: Should still be the Philippines! It's part of the branding, just like how Miss International is always held in Japan.

Venue: Anywhere, with a stage big enough for all contestants. MOA Arena, even Kia Theatre or Newport Performing Arts Theatre would be good venues.

Crown: I would not change the crown, it has become iconic.

Judges: All judges must be former Miss Earth winners.

Interpreters: We all agree this should be addressed by Carousel.

MAJOR CHANGES THAT I WANT:

Limit the pre-pageant activities!!! I totally hate the idea of splitting the girls into groups (Air, Fire, Water), and then having the activities like resorts wear, evening gown, etc 3 TIMES! There's just too many activities to follow! I think if they just limit the pre-pageant activities to 2 or 3 major activities, aside from the preliminaries for figure and form, facial beauty and intelligence, then they will have enough budget and time to prepare for a grander coronation night. (Although I think the activities in the various regions are sponsored by the hotels and resorts where they are held so there really is no cost to Carousel.)

Make it Top 25 to recognize more girls, and give chance for more countries to place. Top 25 to compete on swimsuits, Top 15 to compete on evening gowns, Top 10 to compete on #hashtags and Top 6 to compete on the final question... 2 runners-up will then be declared, and the Top 4 will sashay again in evening gowns and be subjected to one final judging + public voting where the public will be considered as one judge. 4 elemental queens will still be crowned.

NO! it will be a travesty and totally unfair to all the others girls. Remember people, the mini-competitions were largely decided by luck in the sense that a delegate can end up in a very weak group or in a very competitive group.

We should ask, would Ghana be able to amass that much medals had she been a part of another group?
Meaning if she competed against the girls from Water or Fire groups instead of at Air?

Lastly, those mini-competitions can easily be turned or reduced into a mere popularity contests where the judges can easily be swayed or influenced by the audience reactions toward the competitors. Heck,, do you still wonder why Misses Philippines were successful on those events?

MAYBE MAKE THE PAGEANT 3 HOURS AS WELL SO THAT IT DOESN'T FEEL RUSHED

ANOUNCE THE TOP PLACERS IN THE 3 PRELIM CATEGORY - EVEN JUST THE TOP 10 FOR EACH CATEGORY
