Chavit is no fool. There's no promise of sustainable returns in that venture, it's a losing proposition.

That's not going to happen

2) Before Trump was seen as the creepy uncle who had money and was actually half decent at business, now Trump is seen as... well lets be real worse. What do you think beauty pageants, which are fighting against the tides that say that is all a superficial and objectifying business, will be associated with by being in business with Trump.
3) What do you think will happen with national directors if something like this were to happen? Many threatened with boycotting back when he started trashing Mexico

Miss Universe is an American brand which nobody should claim it except if you are an American born Businessman. Miss Universe is not the only pageant that they need to purchase, it's a package deal that they need to buy Miss USA and Miss Teen USA too because they are the same umbrella within the same organization.

In the same manner that Ms International was before ownership changed hands and stayed Japanese hands since many years back. Ms U, Ms Teen, Ms USA failed to garner break-away ratings in mainstream America. I have no clue if losing propositions like these pageants will stay in US ownership in the mainland or might even be offered to foreign takeover in the immediate term?

It doesn't make good business sense should MsU, Ms Teen and Ms USA continue to latch to a non-revenue losing proposition and earn zero in the process? Many large US companies are outsourced as we speak and in the current recessionary gaps, what business-minded person will continue to absorb the loses when no revenues are forthcoming? How are they going to pay for staff and recover from their huge losses? Except by selling, and the targeted buyer may actually be from overseas, not within the mainland. Beauty pageants in America have lost their spark, as it is in the European continent, as if they become stale, hence, unusable!

Careful about alleging "all the illegal businesses" under LCS Group. Has that been proven or merely assumed, or mere speculation? What about the other LCS enterprises that are legit and governed by the laws of the land? If I may, I don't think LCS team of legal minds are deep in slumber and what you claim could be taken as highly debatable.

If you look at the ending credits after the Miss Universe was crowned, you'll see the names of the people behind the productions and as well as the real owner of Miss Universe Organization. When I first watched the Miss Universe 1986 with Geraldine Pebbles de Asis entering the semifinalist then Miss Chile was crowned, I can see that certain organization called Gulf + Pacific Company and the Miss Universe Inc was the subsidiary of Paramount Pictures Corporation can be seen in the ending credits. If you look back on the previous videos of Miss Universe, you'll see them in closing.

I can see and feel your lamentations but it can't be in the hands of a foreigner because of it's brand. They can be part of the productions but there's no way that it will be to another nationality.

I feel like the only reason this is losing money is because their costs are more expensive than what they have to be solely because it's based in America.

I bet you the stage and production of Miss Universe 2019 was probably 5x more than what it cost Miss World or Miss Supranational.

If a company from the Latin America, Philippines or Thailand will buy Miss Universe, I think it'll continue to survive and be more profitable.

I highly doubt a 1 week pageant that culminated on soundstage at Tyler Perry Studios would cost five times the production of Miss Supranational or Miss World. As with most partnerships that involves a live tv broadcast I bet you it was Fox that foot the bill and provided the production crew in hopes of reaping advertising revenue, not MUO. These events are sponsored. If they go bankrupt it is due to mismanagement.
Should the brand leave USA to any of those countries you mentioned it would be cheapened as they'd crown their own representatives like they do with other pageants they own/run and would even have it harder to attract major sponsors and TV partners.

Even George Wittels, an actual expert in crown making, said that what's expensive is not the design or even most of the material. He himself said the pricey part of the crown were the deep canary diamonds. He himself said that for 5M (for a pageant crown at that, which has to be worn constantly) the crown should sing, dance ect. Basically, he believes its too much money for a pageant crown. And I agree.

The problem is that they were offered Canary Diamonds (the one in the center is almost 63 carats), 18K Gold and almost 2,000 diamonds and they just saw the design and explanation without really thinking if I pageant crown should be that expensive. I don't even wanna know how much they are being charged for the other two crowns.

Same problem with the swimsuit, it looks cheap as hell but it's not crazy to imagine a 1M dollar pricetag when you see that they probably used real stones. Many people do that, they take meh designs and bedazzle the shit out of them (in this case with 2,000 carats worth of stones) with expensive jewels to hike up the price.

I would have NEVER made that deal, it makes no economical sense to buy such an expensive crown that ideally would be worn in every appearance and its prone to break. Hell, you think anyone would feel safe walking around with such an expensive and publicized item? =;))

Re: If IMG era ends, who will buy MUO?

I don't understand why you guys hate IMG so much!
Miss Universe under IMG is way more fair than before!
2 Asian winners, 2 African winners, 1 European winner.. we've never seen that much diversity of winners ever!
Sash factor went down.. countries like Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia which used to get ignored under Trump era, all started placing high. Even smaller Latin American countries started performing better rather than just power houses.
I agree.. the production of Miss Universe 2019 was a mess. But except, 2019, rest 4 editions under IMG had great production!
So what else do you want??
No matter which company owns MUO, there's always going to be something lacking. At least with IMG, many countries finally have a real shot at placing high at Miss Universe.

I know IMG may have to sell MUO because of the financial troubles. But the moment a new owner comes in.. pageant fans will start missing IMG

I will wait until my review of the disaster of last year's issues on my review but what I would say is that IMG either balances things (sash factor removal/reduction) or completely throw of balance (backstory/speaking skills vs beauty/performace, yes you can actually have all of that without putting so much emphasis on one)

And focusing on speaking skills is bad? Do you really think.. in a time when VS Fashion was canceled and was thrown off air, a pageant can survive with just focusing on the beauty? Just for the record, ratings of Miss Universe 2019 were still higher than last VS Fashion show.
Of course they have to evolve with time and right now, having a Trump era like pageant could be suicidal for them.
This year's stage was an innovative concept. People who work in fashion industry will tell you how mirtor walls and back lights are a huge trend in fashion shows. They tried to make the stage minimalistic and chic.. and although it looked great in concept.. it sucked in execution! Not to mention this edition was put together at such last minute. We don't know half the things that go on behind the scenes.
IMG has always listened to fans. And we need to appreciate that

SURPRISING IF IT A COST PROBLEM WHAT ABOUT A 5 MILLION DOLLAR CROWN OF MOUAWAD?

You actually believe that crown is worth $5 million?
I bet you believe this swimsuit was worth $1 million too. :%))
Image

If they offered golds and diamonds in the crown itself but how come that when Catriona wore hers during the homecoming parade in the Philippines when it fell to her shoulder, it loose broke.

Let me some this up. Philippines never sent girls like Pia or Catriona. South Africa fell off during the mid 2000's a girl like Demi was never sent. European girls lack that it factor. Iris had it, she was a Europeanversion of a Latina.
MUO reigns are boring! Nothing to keep followers interested they dont do much charity work as they did under IMG. Trump had the title holders involved in so many events. I miss the New York Halloween Parade. Inconsistent shows. So many changes in these past editions. I cant adjust to IMG. Their first show (I consider their first show 2016) is so different than the 2019 show. How can you create a brand if you have inconsistencies. You cant reel in new viewers that way. Ratings are so low and I think this has something to do with it.
The fact that MUO forces Miss USA contestants to wear basic Sherri hill dresses. It's bad enough we have those basic opening dresses now we have to deal with basic evening gowns. Same with Miss USA having to wear Sherri Hill at Miss Universe. No way USA can win with a basic gown.
That pretty much sums up the issues the majority of us have with IMG

ONLY focusing on speaking skills and backstories is the problem, and its not a new problem (before people wanna say my problem is Zozibini won) because fans, potential candidates and missiologists have said for several days. Last year was basically an essay competition, that's just facts. I don't have a problem if Miss Universe doesn't want to brand itself as a beauty pageant anymore and they wanna do it as a competition a la Miss America. It's their business to run, but just don't call it a beauty pageant. =;)) 2018's format provided the perfect balance of beauty and brains, performance and personality. I can assure you in a couple years, if IMG stays, I won't be surprised if the Swimsuit Competition before an Active Wear Competition and eventually even that would disappear. And they haven't exactly listened to fans either, most of us want the continental placements out of the pageant and they are still ignoring us haha. The reality is that many women get discouraged from participating because they feel like they don't stand a chance without a heavy strong story to tell.

And Miss Universe has never chosen its winners based solely in beauty, specially in the last 20-30... those women were smart, successful and accomplished. Even those who made blunders on the Q&A were not "dumb" women. But anyhow, I'll stop because most criticism against IMG's fixation on certain things is met with accusations of being superficial =;))
