MUO should copy Miss France production

Postby sephie » Fri Mar 27, 2020 3:09 am

I recently watched the Miss France pageant and it is entertaining and fast paced (the show is 2.5hrs only).
I think this is something that Miss Universe should apply given that the ratings are going down. It is not about making them speak in every segment that will make the show relevant

Suggested Format:
a. Introduction of Candidates- Miss France Style
After each segment, the announcement of selected candidates

b. Swimwear competition - Miss Universe/ Miss France Style
*ramp but with a theme

c. Evening Gown competition- Miss Universe style

d. Announcement of finalists

e. Profile Video

f. Question and Answer

g. Announcement of Winner

The introduction of candidates like Miss France is impossible because Miss France has only 32 candidates, MUO has 90+ girls, a video introduction for all of them will be tiring to watch and needs at least an hour if not more.

The problem now of the MUO is that they are focusing too much on the speech.
Top 20 announcement - speech
Top 20 opening statement
Top 10 announcrment with videointroduction
SS competition with Speech
EG competition with Speech
Top 5 announcement with speech
Q&A
Final Word
Final Statement

Is too much and annoying.
A better way would be:
- Introduction of Candidate like 2016-2017 but with a longer runway walk, maybe with a theme (like Miss USA 2012 edition)
- Top 20 announcement like the old Miss Universe, without any interruptions
- Top 20 short interviews like 90s editions
- Top 20 SS with a long walk
- Top 10 announcement old style and after that a short video of each girls (like 2008)
- Top 10 EG with a long walk
- Top 5 announcement and Q&A
- Top3 announcement, Final Word, Final Look without statements

I saw this video and I was laughing also. Question for you, how do people in France perceive Miss France?

Even if Miss France is one of the biggest television audiences of the year gathering more than 7 million viewers, it is seen as something futile, old-fashioned and ridiculous. The young women who participate in it are seen as shallow, having nothing in their heads (brainless), just having physical beauty and not knowing how to express themselves. In addition, each year, the contest must face the attacks of feminists who accuse the contest of sexualizing women, of degrading them, of making them objectified women. They feel that it is a shame and a disgrace to have them strutting around in swimsuits and that women are judged solely on their physical appearance or that intellectual and mental skills are not given more prominence in the program. They also think that the criteria are too exclusive and do not represent the current French woman since it is necessary to measure at least 170cm, to be between 18 and 24 years old, not to have taken naked photos, not to have visible tattoos, etc. And every year, journalists look for the little blunder that Miss France will commit.
TOP 5 for Miss Universe 2024 :

1. France 2. Mongolia 3. Kazakhstan
4. Venezuela 5. Kyrgyzstan
