Unstoppable Queen
~
This post goes out to our Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray who lately has been down in the dumps and not in her best headspace—which is totally fine!

Catriona time and time again has stressed facts about the realm of pageantry us fans tend to keep a blind eye on. She incessantly opened up to the fact on how pageants are not always about the glitz and glamour it's portrayed to be on tv or on stage. She has voiced out about the reality beauty queens like her face everyday, that no matter how beautiful they look or the "perfection" they project through the cameras, each of them have times of uncertainty, sadness and everything we feel on a bad day. It doesn't mean they're pillars of beauty personified that these women aren't allowed to feel. They're people, not dolls. ALL emotions they feel are VALID, even—especially pain.

The fact that E Online Latino, an entertainment portal (under E! Online), made an article about our Queen while misconstruing the words of her honesty in how she felt these past few weeks a foreshadowing of her "renouncing the crown" only means that these things should be talked about more, that instead of merely criticizing an individual having a hard time, we could commit a simple act of universal kindness by being a shoulder to lean on, an ear to talk to and a heart to connect with. It's okay NOT to feel okay, because trying times are what sculpts a person to that of growth and not of regression. When you're at the bottom there's only one direction you're headed: up.

Catriona, I am glad you spoke your truth, your feelings, your sorrows—even if it's just through 2 simple posts. As Miss Universe your job isn't to stand on a pedestal eating grapes from monkeys but a QUEEN who while is insanely beautiful, is relatable and every bit of a human being like we are. Instead of weakness, I see strength. I see a woman who had the courage to compete for her country again even though she knew she'd be bashed and spat on. I see a fighter who amidst her scoliosis and the pain that came with it, trained her pasarela to the peak of perfection. I see a savage who killed her haters with kindness
