Won’t change the fact that as Catriona is enjoying the time of her life. So sad.

But this one had very tense moments, specially between Dayana and Alicia. You could cut the tension with a knife when Alicia started talking. I was holding my breath expecting them to start fighting. Thank God for Zuleyka and her Charming personailty. Stefania looked like the little girl who wanted to play with Zuleyka but her bigger Sister Dayana wasn't having it. I bet Stefania wanted to try Zuleyka's Mikimoto Crown and Sash as well. Even if she has the same set.
I am LIVING for the girl next door Zuleyka in this video. She's so bubbly and engaging here, not that she isn't normally (I am assuming she is) but it's a very pleasant contrast to the usually fierce and intense images that get projected on her photoshoots, like the one above with Gabriela and Olivia.

I don't consider the 2017 win as representative of African victory since many times over in pageants, African wins have been made by white women.

While I understand your point, I really do, the reality is that regardless of Demi's skin color or heritage she is still a woman born and raised in South Africa who feels South African. So I do consider it a win for Africa but keeping in mind a better, bigger more significant win would be from a black barbie.

Asians, Africans and other non-Caucasians have always been excluded from the Miss Universe pageant. It does make sense to crown a black African woman every once in a while (though I think Leila Lopes is gorgeous and her entire self was excusable for her poor performance) but it would make more sense not to overlook heavy favourites as they have done in many editions and putting mediocre, unattractive white women as finalists.
In 2002, Colombia and USA were excluded.
In 2013, Israel was excluded.
And then calling these white women, which Demi-Leigh is definitely not the first since Michelle won in 1995 for Namibia as African representation of diversity is annoying. It's as discouraging as having to depend on two Eurasians to bring the crown back to Asia after Riyo Mori when Janine Tugonon was the rightful winner of 2012.

Janine Tugonon was fugly. It should have been between South Africa and Australia in 2012. The lady in your avatar should have been crowned in 2015 though
