Like while I don't find Zuzibini like stunning, I get why she won given the format of the show... but overall this edition of Miss Universe was kind of a dumpster fire.
The MUO doesn't have enough money to put on a show. What I'm guessing is happening is that IMG is providing the MUO with a budget that can put on a show like what we saw this year or the one in 2017 because the MUO does not generate enough revenue to warrant a bigger budget, and the MUO is struggling to find American sponsors to make up the difference. So the MUO can only put on big grandiose shows when they go abroad and get international sponsors/financial assistance in countries that care about pageantry. Every time an international deal falls through we'll be stuck with a pageant like this (or even worse), until IMG sells MUO (assuming the new buyer will treat it better) or the MUO can pick up some actually helpful American sponsorships. Really hoping maybe South Africa or Vietnam can host next year.
