What Miss Supranational Lacks

Postby sissymeow » Tue Jun 09, 2020 4:21 am

Miss Supranationals production is truly phenomenal. The final night is much more greater than Miss World however, the pageant itself lacks personality. What i mean about that is their winners are just physically beautiful but without any special trait. Unlike Miss Earth, Miss Universe, Miss International and Miss World, we see that the girls won not just because of physical beauty but also because of their amazing personality, intelligence and talent. I appreciate the recent changes in Miss Supranationals format when they inserted the Q and A round recently but it didnt really gave me that "wow, this girl is everything" factor, they are just giving me like,"yes she is pretty".

What can you say about this? lets talk

Who wants another copycat reproduction when pageants have to have their own distinct identity and platform to be identifiable with? It boggles the mind to think why MS should strive to be in the same mold or even better than what its elder counterpart could be? Ms U Extra Unlimited or MW Extra Unlimited, is that what we want?

miss supranational is just like modeling contest...
though a lot if stunning girls hut that’s just it...
they must have an advocacy in order to be recognized as a real international pageant..

1. I think it lacks a clear identity.
I think they do everything well, good lineup, (and unlike Earth and Grand they are trying more to get girls from the national contests (although they made a mess in Mexico) so that adds legitimacy), good stage, great production, solid pre-pageant. I also really like their winners, every girl (with the exception of Jenny Kim and Asha Bhat) is gorgeous -- all girls who one could see winning Miss World or Miss Universe. The problem is that it is all a bit snoozy because it just seems a pastiche of all other pageants and one. has the "Ive seen it all before" reaction.
MW does the pre-pageant and class thing better, Miss Universe has the fan interest better, MGI has a more exciting format and has. found a way to get people to talk, MI does the boring thing better, ME does the regional pageant thing better. So that leaves MS with a big relevance question mark.

2. Good timing. Moving it to the spring or summer instead of sticking it on top of MW and Miss Universe would make a big difference. Who has the time to pay attention when the big two are going on?

I think though that what Supra has done really well is to establish a good foundation. But the step up to the next level is going to require some vision, courage, money and patience!
Right now if MGI is a baby Miss Universe and ME is a baby MW, MS is a baby MI. And NO ONE wants to be a baby MI.

Or maybe it's just you who doesn't want to be a baby Miss International because you cannot afford to fly to Japan and experience Japanese culture that ALL delegates of Miss International experience with royal treatment and satisfaction. Ask all national queens who got sent by the same organization to various pageants and they can tell you which pageant treated them with respect and dignity! Something that you won't understand because you're just stuck into one hemisphere.

Try to downplay MI once again, I can forgive you. But to even have the audacity to praise MGI, that makes you undeserving of your Pageant Expert tag. You're just a pageant fan - more like a Miss Universe fan - but definitely not an expert. Your flop predictions are just the tip of the ice berg...

Awareness from non-netizens (who are not actively on social media). The only time Miss Supranational aired on Philippine free TV when Mutya Datul won the pageant in 2013 but subsequent years GMA or other free TV networks apparently declined to air the pageant.

The results of Queen of Decades game gave a not so good impression to MS. Only 3 of them made it to the Top 20 but none of them advanced further. All 3 of them who made the first cut scored low in the Intelligence category.

Why a hater? That is so dumb. The POINT of the thread and the question asked is what Supra lacks. This is MY opinion - and nothing here is hateful! If you disagree with any specific arguments, please feel free to argue, it's just a discussion, nothing more. I personally think my points are sensible -- I praise Supra's winners, production, and non-controversial approach, and argue that their timing and lack of a distinct identity hold it back.

First of all, I have been to Japan over 30 times, and I always stay at the very best of Japanese hotels, so please don't assume what I can and cannot do. And I certainly don't need your pronouncements on my expertise or lack thereof.
I know you just want to defend your contest, and that is fine, and no one is saying that the International girls are not treated well during their stay. I did not criticize MI in any way here. My point was just that Supra mirrors MI in the way that it is non-controversial, subdued and elegant. However, as one of the original pageants, MI occupies a distinct space - where it has prestige but has never risen to the level of awareness and prestige as MW or Miss Universe in a public sense (arguably it has that cache amongst pageants). Therefore, a more low key version of it does not really work. Even MI in recent years has been changing to create more activities and relevance for it's winner, be more inclusive, enhance its production....so they themselves are evolving in a positive direction. So the point is that being a more subdued version of MI just does not make sense.

Lacks everything.. from stealing national directors, to bad mouthing other pageants, to lacking in advocacy, to zero activities of winners except crowning national delegates

This is a low tier pageant that lacks class and professionalism in the pageant world

You failed Jon... you really really failed miserably... Boasting that you've been to Japan and not being able to understand how Japan works? EPIC FAIL!

You see.. if you're really a TRUE pageant expert, you would dissect the reason why MI is like this. Have you ever thought that MI is not a money-generating TV show? Have you ever thought that the financial liquidity of the organization has nothing to do with broadcasting rights and ticket receipts?

Imagine if MI would indeed step up with our pageant gala, and use the girls as stage props in order to earn money? Imagine that? That would be awesome, right?

Better research first about MI... or better read more about MI. There are plenty of write ups that I wrote about this pageant before I got hired by the owner herself. READ. That's what real pageant experts do. That's what CREDIBLE and LEGITIMATE pageant experts do...
