Just like the Philippine pageantry most especially involving Miss Universe contest, there's always twist and turn of events. We are always used already to hold our seat belts in the journey towards Miss Universe competition over the years.

It cannot be operated by a non American entities or else Miss Universe will be displaced to be ranked way below as the most prestigious beauty pageant in the world rather the universe. The crystal ball should not go to a company outside the US and who's not used to run a beauty pageant.

Personally, I consider Miss Universe as an American institution so I’d like for it to remain in the hands of Americans.

Having said so, I wish Miss Universe finds an owner like Miss Earth’s Ramon Monzon and Lorraine Schuck. I want the next owners to really love the pageant and not treat it like a vanity project (Trump), or just business as usual (IMG). I want the next owners to ignore the politicking of NDs (especially the ones that got money), stop personally selecting some finalists (wildcards anyone?), have a different set of judges for the preliminary events and the finals night to lessen judging bias, and dump the all women judging panel (as if men are incapable of judging beauty pageants). And please stop focusing on the backstories and sob stories because it puts women with uneventful lives at a disadvantage. I want every woman judged on the merits of her performance alone.

So i think for now, ok munang sa IMG ang Miss Universe. 8-> 8-> 8-> 8-> 8-> 8-> 8-> 8-> :=p

I can't agree more. I am happy that Shugart confirms the MUO stays with IMG or with America. I really don't want the Miss Universe to go out of the american ownership because let's admit it the Miss Universe is in its position right now in the pageant industry because it is made in America. It is America's legacy so they should keep it no matter what.

I think IMG will just do some rebranding instead of ownership change.

It is time for a new owner. IMG made Miss Universe so boring. The IMG picks are way too obvious, and they ensure that it's the same countries every single year.

At least during the Trump eras, the playing field is even once the girls enter the semifinals. With IMG, it's so predictable, it's always Brazil, Colombia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and South Africa every single time.

The only country in Asia that has ever put on a good Miss Universe show in Thailand. I think the pageant should be sold to a Latin country and the production should be run by Thailand. The Americans have ruined the pageant. It is positively boring now. The last production was absolutely dismal. And the girls that advanced? Let's rehash that for a moment.

Miss USA making the top ten was ridiculous. That recycled gown and that over the top walk? She was eye humping the camera like she thought she was going to win the crown.

HUH?!!! :-/ :-/ :-/ The playing field was not even during the Trump era either.

Are RE-WRITING history here???????
/:) /:) /:) /:)

After 2005 it became very predictable. The same countries placed repeatedly almost every year, mostly from the Americas. Throw in 1 or 2 from Europe, 1 Asian, 1 from Ocenia (mostly Australia) and 1 from Africa (More often South Africa) ............and BAM. Finished.

as for IMG well............they have not done much to peak my interest so you have a good point about that one.
