Why Miss Earth??

Why is it that when something negative happens in Miss Earth, people always associate that to the org itself when it was not the org who did that but someone else?

Girls experienced harassment from the sponsor. Although based on stories of the girls that they reported it to the chaperones and officials of Miss Earth and still, they were not happy with the outcome, Miss Earth still did something drastic by shaming the sponsor and removing him from the pageant itself. Still, people are so critical of Miss Earth for this despite the action of the org.

But when our girl, Maggie Wilson experienced this in Miss World, they all have forgotten about it. I don’t think Miss World did something about it. They never addressed the issue. People are not attacking MW because of this.

Oxana experienced this in the Howard Stern radio show. There was no really physical sexual abuse but the questions posed to her made her uncomfortable. People lambasted Howard Stern but not Miss Universe. This issue died down eventually and did not tarnish Miss Universe.

Anea Garcia felt this too in MGI. She felt unsafe and sexually harassed yet people forgot about her and her incident. MGI publicly shamed her and her attitude. ME never did this to their girls. Sure they explained their side and their story but they never attacked the girls but still, it brought negativity to ME but with MGI, it was only the Filipinos in majority who lambasted MGI while the rest of the world still supported the pageant. When Nawat said negative things to Filipinos and our queens and Miss Universe for supporting the Filipino queens, people don’t mind. But when Lorraine Shuck was setup for allegedly selling the ME crown (she did not, i watched the video - she was explaining that they have judges and all that) people, including her Filipino bashers attacked her.

People are always so critical of ME even though they are not claiming to be this or that. It’s the fans who elevate the pageant by saying the accomplishments of the org and the queens. Back in their early years, it was Glob al Beau ties that elevated the pageant to Gran dslam status and said that it is the third most important pageant. With regard to MGI, it was MGI who claimed they are the top 3 pageant in the world. Again, the majority of its bashers were Filipinos but others supported them. And then, filipinos were attacked by saying that we are just jealous etc.

I pity Miss Earth. I just hope people would be fair to ME as well... oh well...

It would have been a different story had Ms Earth originated some place else and not within Philippine shores. It would have been another story had its founders, and, the pageant organizers, were of another nationality or that the pageant's base of operations not situated in a developing country as the Philippines. To a lesser extent, had our Filipina queens succumbed to a relentless failure in the quest for international crowns, MEO would have been dismissed deservedly during its infancy years or similarly relegated to obscurity than cementing its presence in the hierarchy of beauty pageantry today.

Because it’s made in the Philippines...

There’s no denying that the Philippines’ many recent successes in pageantry have become the envy of everyone. Unfortunately, this has also caused a great deal of animosity and built in resentment from many corners. Since Miss Earth is one these major successes, it isn’t surprising that rival organizations and their fans, with a lot of help from Pinoy crabs, started targeting the organization. Sinking Miss Earth, which has fast become a symbol of Filipino ingenuity and a source of pride for the local people, would be a major victory for those who want to see the Philippines embarrassed.

But what these guys didn’t expect is the level of resilience shown by the organization and the people behind it despite having been accused of so many things. And that makes these enemies angrier. So every year, they put the pageant under microscopic scrutiny in search of the littlest mistakes that get blown out of proportion. And to their chagrin, the pageant just keeps getting better. :%))

So instead of pitying Miss Earth, be proud of it. For it has withstood many adversities and challenges...something we can all learn from. :=p

You’re right, Handsama. I should not pity Miss Earth. Instead, it is these bashers whom I should pity because despite everything that they do, ME is still strong and becoming stronger and better than the other pageants.

Very well said Sir. I am not a fan of ME before, but the advocacy and the pre-pageant activities of ME made me praise them compared to other pageant.

Anyway, Sierra should remember the garbage war between the Philippines and Canada.

People are just jealous of the Philippines because the tide is turning. These countries that got used to being superior are deteriorating, While the Philippines is striving in its economy, politics, the arts and growing number of professionals in different fields. They are so unhappy, unlike the Filipinos who live happier lives due to their ability to cope better with life's ups and downs.

Possible "excuse" or "palusot": Third World Country argument, so they defended some pageants that originated from 1st world country despite they also have several lapses on the way.

Miss Earth is Miss Earth, the envy of wannabe pageants. Even other older pageants have taken notice of the innovations and success of Miss Earth. Some jealous crabs are making Miss Earth more famous. Thank you. :hx :hx

They said that when there are opposers, this would only mean that you are doing great and good!

Satan only attacks those who are against him.

Miss Earth is protecting the Earth that God has created.

Satan destroys the Earth to shame God the Creator!

So when there is no opposition, meaning Satan is not bothered because maybe it's on his evil side????

Because it's made in the Philippines. And there this has "pag uugali" of most of the Filipinos (I admit I'm one of those but I really love ME) that they/we patronise things made by foreigners more than their own. And most of us pinoys are perfectionists so when there's a small mistake they will criticise/bash heavily.

I don’t pity Miss Earth

It is a cause of envy because it is so freaking TRUE to its advocacy AND even more STABLE now than Miss U which only has 9 days of activities.

The only edge of Miss U is reach and popularity, that’s it!!

I love miss Earth!!
